K2LD Architects: Tropical Expression

The beautifully crafted architecture of K2LD displays a tropical freedom of expression with a specific connection to the histories and cultures of its location. Their distinctive houses can be seen as internal and external sequences of harmonious spaces and vistas, which delight in the charms of tropical living and perform as a framework for passive climate control.

At the forefront of a new generation of Asian architects, K2LD innately understand the possibilities presented by 21st century Asia, and have produced a range of work – in Singapore, Malaysia and China – that is eloquent, self assured and attuned to its tropical context.

Tropical Expression features 33 selected projects, which are thoroughly documented with drawings, sketches, text, and extensive colour photography. The book is introduced by a series of essays, which analyse both K2LD’s design principles and the emerging status of contemporary Asian architecture.
